Lake Washington Technical College will hold two ceremonies honoring their Class of 2010.
Lake Washington Technical Academy students will receive their diplomas in Graduation Ceremonies on June 15 at 7:00 PM on the Kirkland Campus in room W404. A trio of students will be the featured speakers. A reception will follow.
LWTC's Commencement Ceremony will be June 18 at 2:00 PM at the Lynnwood Convention Center. Paul Shin, Washington State Senator from the 21st District in Edmonds, will be the Commencement speaker.
The Technical Academy offers eligible high school junior and senior students, ages 16 to 20, the opportunity to concurrently train for a career and earn a high school diploma. The Academy is accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited School and is a full-time special purpose high school program located on LWTC's Kirkland campus. The program enrolls 300-350 students annually and accepts students from 30 regional school districts.
Technical Academy students have access to most of the training programs and support services of LWTC. Eligible students are required to be enrolled full-time in a technical training program and general education classes to complete the high school diploma. Students have the opportunity to not only complete their high school diploma but also work towards a two year technical college degree or certificate.
Senator Shin is the currently the Vice President Pro Tempore of the Senate and serves on the Economic Development, Trade & Innovation (Vice Chair), EDTI Subcommittee on International Relations (Chair), Agriculture & Rural Economic Development, and Higher Education & Workforce Development committees.
