South Korean Culinary Students Visit

The LWIT Board of Trustees has appointed Dr. Sharon McGavick as Interim President of the college effective Nov. 7, 2012. She replaces Dr. David Woodall, who passed away suddenly on Sept. 3, 2012. Dr. McGavick recently served as LWIT's president from 2007 to 2010.

Dental helps provide $45K in free care
Lake Washington Technical College (LWTC) dental students combined with Lake Washington Dental Hygienists' Society, and local dental professionals to provide over $45,000 in free services to low-income children during their annual Free Dental Care Day on February 5. Students in LWTC's Baking Arts program and Culinary Arts program, under the supervision of Chef Janet Shaffer, have put together safety tips when preparing the perfect holiday dinner. Foundation benefit raises over $71,000
The Lake Washington College Foundation raised over $71,000 to assist college students and faculty through their Pathways to Learning Benefit Breakfast on October 27. The money was raised through corporate and private sponsorships and donations, ticket sales, and a silent auction. The funding allows the Foundation to assist students and faculty in various ways.

Lake Washington Technical College and Data I/O Corporation have entered into a training partnership made possible through a grant provided by the State of Washington. A student team from Lake Washington Technical College will compete in the sixth annual International CanSat Competition on June 11-13 in Amarillo, Texas. The LWTC team will be the only one from the state of Washington and one of only two two-year colleges in the competition, which is open to colleges and universities from the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe.

LWTC celebrated the grand opening of the multi-million dollar Electronics Labs. These new labs will feature the very latest electronics instructional equipment and software, including robots and advanced computer workstations.
