The Accounting AAS Degree provides students with a solid background in accounting. General education courses, business courses, and computer skills related to accounting such as spreadsheets, computerized accounting software, and payroll systems complete the curriculum.

Types of work

Students have the opportunity to find jobs in companies ranging from small proprietorships to corporate accounting departments, governmental organizations and public accounting firms.

Future jobs

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, employment of accountants and auditors is expected to grow by 22% between 2008 and 2018, which is much faster than the average for all occupations.

Salary examples

In May 2008, the median annual wages of bookkeping, accounting, and auditing clerks were $32,510. The middle half of the occupation earned between $26,350 and $40,130. The top 10% of bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing clerks earned more than $49,260, and the bottom 10% earned less than $20,950.
