Lake Washington Institute of Technology serves the workforce training needs of Aerospace and Manufacturing by offering short and long term degree and certificate programs in:


Certificate of Completion in Principles of Precision Machining**

2-Quarter program (42 credits) (Starts July 2, 2012 – December 13, 2012)

OR

3-Quarter* program (47 credits) (Starts September 24, 2012 – June 21, 2013)

Graduates will

  • be prepared with skills to perform entry-level CNC machining and manual machining

  • gain a thorough grounding in shop theory and applied math

  • perform CAD/CAM programming and manual programing

  • set up and operate machine tools with a minimum of supervision

  • demonstrate critical thinking, teamwork, intercultural appreciation, communication, technical, and information literacy skills

Eligibility Requirements

  • 18 or older

  • high school diploma or GED

  • legal to work in the U.S.

  • mechanical abilities and interests

  • low income or unemployed or veteran or in need of updated skills or retraining for aerospace industry

  • able to understand, read and write English at an intermediate level

  • men born 1960 or later: registered with the Selective Service or have entered the U.S. after age 26

  • job placement assistance Included! Be prepared for jobs that pay $12 – $17 an hour – plus be on a career path in aerospace and advanced manufacturing.

* For students who test at or below MATH 080 or ABED 046, the 3-Quarter program gives you an opportunity to study pre-algebra and written communication before starting technical instruction.
