If you have an applied associate's degree in a design-related field and are looking to take your skills to the next level, our Bachelor of Technology in Applied Design (BTAD) program offers the opportunity to earn a four-year degree and obtain management skills.
Accreditation
On February 3, 2012, Lake Washington Institute of Technology was notified by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities that it had been granted accreditation at the baccalaureate level to include the Bachelor of Technology in Applied Design. The NWCCU noted the following as a result of the comprehensive evaluation visit in Fall 2011: "The Commission applauds the Institute for establishing a rigorous and viable Bachelor of Technology degree program in Applied Design which provides options for higher education for students in current careers and future opportunities."
Application Process
The BTAD program has a rolling admissions process; priority application deadline for Fall 2012 is June 1, 2012. Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a space-available basis.
Students who wish to take courses without being admitted to the program (non-matriculated) may be considered on a space-available basis.
Marlene "Malka" Fricks Memorial Scholarship for BTAD Students
The purpose of the Marlene “Malka” Fricks Scholarship is to recognize academic excellence and assist with financial need for Bachelor of Technology in Applied Design (BTAD) students.
Students must be currently enrolled as a BTAD student at least half-time, and completed at least one quarter of study. Students are eligible to receive a BTAD scholarship once per academic year.

Our BTAD degree program is designed to advance your design career. It will prepare you to lead and collaborate with teams of creative and technical professionals. You'll study the business of design, entrepreneurship, and project management, while keeping your technical skills up-to-date with industry trends.
Classes that Fit Your Schedule
The BTAD degree program features our popular hybrid/evening format designed for working students. It allows you to take classes at night and online so you can continue to work during the day.

These helpful sessions present an overview of the BTAD program and explain the admission process. Sessions start at 5:00 p.m., last one hour, and include time for questions. All sessions are held in Room W406 in the West Building on LWIT's Kirkland Campus.
No RSVP is needed and attendance at once is highly recommended for all applicants. An online option is available through the Advising Department.
