On February 3, 2012, Lake Washington Institute of Technology was notified by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities that it had been granted accreditation at the baccalaureate level to include the Bachelor of Technology in Applied Design.
The NWCCU noted the following as a result of the comprehensive evaluation visit in Fall 2011:
"The Commission applauds the Institute for establishing a rigorous and viable Bachelor of Technology degree program in Applied Design which provides options for higher education for students in current careers and future opportunities."
