Lake Washington Institute of Technology is not only invaluable resourse to our students, but also to our Eastside community. Along with job training and professional development programs, we're a full-fledged community resource with a job placement center, library, restaurant, dental clinic and arboretum, all open to the public.
The college also provides important community services like parent cooperative classes for parents looking for support and ideas in raising their children. We encourage students and community members to investigate the services and start to explore all Lake Washington Institute of Technology has to offer.
The 300-plus plant arboretum at the southwest corner of the LWIT campus contains the entire Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association plant list of woody ornamentals.
Photos and stories provide a window to the past for the Eastside communities of Kirkland, Redmond, Issaquah, and Lower Snoqualmie (Duvall, Carnation, Fall City and Tolt). The permanent exhibits are on display in the third and second-floor hallways of the LWIT's West Building.
We do not try to compete with repair shops; therefore, only work needed for training is accepted. Only vehicles less than 12 years old will meet the requirements of training for the current automotive job market.
Baking Arts students bake up delicious breads and pastries which are available at E150 Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. when school is in session.
The cafeteria offers an assortment of main dishes, soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts, snacks and beverages.
The Chef City Grill is a full-service restaurant operated by students the Culinary Arts program and features quality regional dishes. The Grill is open for lunch Wednesdays - Fridays, 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. when school is in session.
The Dental Clinic serves the public, including uninsured and low-income patients. Work is performed by licensed dentists and hygienists and certified dental assistants, assisted by students in the dental hygiene and dental assisting programs.
LWIT provides complete on-site child care services. With an active, hands-on program, our child care staff promotes learning through experience and accomplishment. Our center provides services for students enrolled in LWIT classes and for state employees.
Parent Cooperative Education classes is a cooperative effort between parents and educators to provide an active learning environment for both parents and children.
