We care for our students. And for their little students, too.
Lake Washington Institute of Technology provides complete on-site child care services. With an active, hands-on program, our child care staff promotes learning through experience and accomplishment. Our center provides services for students enrolled in LWIT classes and for state employees. To register, contact the child care manager at the number above. Funding programs are accepted.
Typical Toddler Daily Schedule
The learning environment is composed of a variety of learning centers. The activities and materials located in these centers are frequently changed and enhanced to facilitate the toddlers' exploration. The following learning centers are always open and can be located on the schedule under "Free Choice of Centers"
Table art and easel art
Dramatic play (housekeeping)
Large motor climber
Option 1 - Use of the center from the first to last day of the quarter, but not between quarters.
The ELC has additional fee schedules for time between quarters for students and employees. Community is accepted on a space availability basis for fulltime only. Please contact the ELC for more information.
A Registration Packet and Parent Handbook are available in the Early Learning Center Office (S-2) during business hours, call (425) 739-8117 or email us.
Please pick up or call to request a registration packet for each child you would like to enroll. We will need all forms completed before your child may begin care, including current immunization records. If you will be receiving funding, we will also need written, or verbal approval from the funding agency.
We require that you schedule an appointment to take a tour of our facility with your child so that you can get your questions answered and become familiar with our facility. The best tour times are mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Please call Toni Terry, Early Learning Center Assistant Director, at (425) 739-8117 to arrange a tour. She is often busy during the day, but please leave a message and she will return your call as soon as possible.
We also require that you and your child schedule at least two hours to spend in the classroom with your child before care begins. (There is no charge for this.) Young children often need several visits with a parent before they can feel comfortable at the Center. Please keep in mind that the best time to visit is during the hours that your child will attend.
If you would like to put your child's name on our waiting list, please mail, fax, or bring the completed Registration Information, Enrollment Contract, and the Medical Release Form to the Early Learning Center Office in S-2.
The $60.00 per child registration fee will be required (except if funded) when we notify you that we have space available for your child. The remaining forms, including immunizations are needed before the first day of your child's care. The first month's payment or co-payment is due on the first day of care.
Our classrooms operate as separate full-day Preschool and Toddler programs. Our staff is trained in childhood development and our program models the best practices in Early Childhood Education. Our child care teachers will work with your child at their level of development and create an engaging and caring environment for your child to explore. All the rooms have a Daily Schedule of Activities and a Weekly Lesson Plan that is posted on the Parent Board for your information. We also have a Parent Handbook that will tell you more about our policies and procedures.
Let us know if we can help you at (425) 739-8117 or via email. We're looking forward to meeting you and your child!
