Regular Meeting Schedule:
The College Council was formed in May 2005 to provide an opportunity for everyone in the LWIT community to participate in the process of Governance. The governance of any college is central to bringing the best to its students.
The College Council meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. The meeting schedule is published and emailed to all college employees. Meetings are held at 1:00 p.m. in the West Building, Room 305A. No meetings are held during the summer quarter.
The College Council has two major roles:
(1) To increase communication with and participation of faculty, staff and students in the governance of the college; and
(2) To deliberate and make recommendations to the college Administration regarding proposed actions, policy changes, and so on.
The Lake Washington Institute of Technology College Council provides employees and students an opportunity to participate in the shared governance of the College.
The purpose of the Council is to:

Increase communication and participation of faculty, staff, and students in the governance of the College

Deliberate and advise Administration on suggested College policy

Communicate with standing and ad hoc committees of the College that develop and recommend such policies and procedures

Advise standing and ad hoc committees, and/or Administration, of concerns and positions under consideration
The Council will not engage in confidential issues related to Human Resources or Bargaining.
Please be an active participant in this important aspect of the college governance process! Your representatives are on the Council to work for you. The College Council will be working with all of the standing committees on campus as well as special ad hoc committees and task forces.
The College Council is only as good as you make it - and your representatives can only bring forward issues and opinions that are brought to them. Send emails, call us, or tackle us in the hallways.
