Workshops

A Lake Washington Institute of Technology counselor is available to present workshops in your classroom on various topics related to student success. Each workshop is generally one hour. If you are interested in having the Counselor present a workshop in your class, please contact the Counselor at (425) 739-8211.

Some examples of workshops that can been offered for students are as follows:

  • Test Anxiety
    This workshop uses a cognitive behavioral approach to help students identify and respond to beliefs that support test anxiety.

  • Testing Skills
    This workshop focuses on specific tips for various types of tests e.g., multiple-choice, true/false, and fill-in-the-blank.

  • Stress Management
    In this workshop, students will learn what is stress response, what "triggers" it and coping strategies to manage stress.

  • Note-taking Skils
    Students will learn 3 specific styles of note-taking, and will be able to determine the "best fit" given their learning style.

  • Reading Strategies
    Students will learn the importance of creating a purpose for reading and the SQ3R reading method.
