Grants from government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources provide us with opportunities to innovate. All grant applications and requests for proposals (RFP) should align with the college's mission, core themes and strategic plan.
LWIT staff and faculty are encouraged to contact the Research and Development Office if you:
-
Have plans to respond to an open request for Proposal
-
Would like assistance with developing a concept for funding analysis or advanced preparation for funding opportunities
-
Are passionate about a topic or idea that you would like to discuss or
Would like to explore or learn more about grant opportunities. Before initiating proposals discuss plans with your supervisor, vice president, co-workers, faculty or your advisory board. In addition, staff and faculty should be prepared to contribute time to the grant writing process.
Proposals that do not fit the mission and strategic plan of the college should not be considered.
Other considerations, such as match requirements, deadlines and institutional support are vital to the success of your proposal and to successful implementation.
In order to see if a grant application reasonable and if we have the ability to carry out the project, you must complete the following steps:
-
Set up a meeting with the Resource Development Office to discuss the proposal
-
Complete the Grant Assistance Request form and send it to the Resource Development Office
-
Obtain the approval of your supervisor and the Vice President of your area (signature required)
-
Submit the form with required signatures to the Grant Office(West Building, Room W302).
Following completion of the above process, the form is reviewed by the Office of Research and Development and routed to Executive Cabinet for approval. Following approval from Executive Cabinet, you will be contacted by the Office of Research & Development on next steps.
Final Approval of Proposal before Filing
Five business days prior to proposal due date, the final proposal (can be in draft form) must be submitted to the Grants Office for routing through the appropriate review process. Documents can be provided in electronic and hardcopy format to West Building, Room W302. This timeline allows for the Office of Resource Development to begin to prepare your proposal submission; as well as obtain final approval from the Office of the President.
