Learn new skills!
We encourage employees to take full advantage of available training and professional development activities.

We offer many ways for you to develop your skills and knowledge on and off campus. Check your collective bargained agreement on the Policies & Procedures page for related policies. Contact Human Resources with feedback or questions.

New employee orientations
If you're a regular employee, you must complete the College and Human Resources orientations when you start working. Contact Human Resources to sign up for orientations.

HR will give you these two handbooks at your appointment. You will take the College Orientation Handbook to all other orientations, get signatures, and return the sign off sheet to HR after all you complete all the college orientations.

HR holds orientations for part-time faculty every quarter.

Take a class - tuition and fee waivers

Eligible employees get tuition waivers for most LWIT classes. You pay for books, supplies and applicable fees. Your supervisor must approve in advance the trainings you take during normally scheduled work time. Employees eligible for tuition and fee waivers include:

  • Regular, on-going employees (such as administrators, prof-tech, classified, full-time faculty).
  • Part-time faculty IF they taught at least the previous 3 consecutive quarters OR are currently teaching 1 quarter with a full-time (100%) load.

Hourly/temporary employees and workstudies do not qualify for the tuition waiver.

Get a tuition and fee waiver from Human Resources before you enroll in a class.

You may also take classes at other Washington state colleges, if eligible. Contact colleges directly for their specific policies and procedures.
