Financial Aid News
The Foundation Scholarships application cycle is now open! To apply, go to "Foundation Scholarships" , review the scholarships offered and then click on the "2013-2014 Scholarship Application" box at the top right of the page to complete the on-line application.
Students must re-apply each year for aid. If you have received aid in 2012-2013, you must complete a FAFSA for the 2013-2014 award year (summer quarter 2013 through spring quarter 2014) to receive aid in the summer 2013 quarter.
Financial Aid Refunds: Lake Washington Institute of Technology has partnered with Higher One, an financial institution that specializes in assisting colleges with financial aid disbursements. If you are expecting a financial aid refund, you will now have three options to receive your refund:

A checking account with Higher One; aid refunds may be accessed through a Debit Card

Higher One will deposit your refund directly into your checking account with another bank

Or you may receive your refund as a paper check mailed directly to you from Higher One
Debit cards are mailed to students who have a completed financial aid application. Make sure your address is up to date with Enrollment Services! Visit our webpage at www.lwtech.edu/connectcard for more information. Refunds for students who have been awarded and have selected a checking account with HigherOne should be available beginning 1:00pm the first day of the quarter.
Student Portal: You may now check the status of your application and view a summary of aid awarded for the current award year on-line. Select "Student Portal" from the menu on the left. When accessing the Portal, your user name is your social security number, and your password is your LWIT PIN number.
Satisfactory Academic Progress: To continue to receive financial aid students must meet financial aid satisfactory academic progress requirements. To view the policy, click here or select "Satisfactory Academic Progress" from the menu on the left.
REMEMBER: Make sure to apply by or before the priority deadline date for the quarter you wish to attend. Due to the tremendous volume of applications received this year, processing time may be as long as 12 weeks or more from the date an application is complete. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
FAFSA Online Workshop
Need help completing your FAFSA , Free Application for Federal Student Aid? A financial aid advisor can help you apply online. Attend a FAFSA Online Workshop held in the Technology Center, Room T320, at 3:00, on each Thursday of the week beginning April 11 and ending June 21.
What to bring to the FAFSA Online Workshops 2013-2014 (summer quarter 2013 through spring quarter 2014):
Bring your 2012 tax return or income information (tax return information may be estimated if not completed). Dependent students will need parent's 2012 tax return or income information as well. Eligible non-citizens will need their eight or nine digit Alien Registration number. If you are applying for aid in spring quarter 2013, you will also need to bring your 2011 income information.

The primary mission of the Financial Aid Office is to help students seeking financial assistance meet their educational expenses at LWIT.
