A Lake Washington Institute of Technology counselor is available to present workshops in your classroom on various topics related to student success. Each workshop is generally one hour. Some examples of workshops that can been offered for students are as follows:
This workshop uses a cognitive behavioral approach to help students identify and respond to beliefs that support test anxiety.
This workshop focuses on specific tips for various types of tests e.g., multiple-choice, true/false, and fill-in-the-blank.
In this workshop, students will learn what is stress response, what "triggers" it and coping strategies to manage stress.
Students will learn 3 specific styles of note-taking, and will be able to determine the "best fit" given their learning style.
Students will learn the importance of creating a purpose for reading and the SQ3R reading method.
