TRiO Projects

The mission of the TRiO Projects at Lake Washington Institute of Technology is to increase the retention, graduation and transfer rates of eligible students. This is accomplished by providing supportive services such as tutoring, academic counseling, educational planning, academic success workshops, The Learning Lab, financial education and transfer assistance.

The purpose of the TRiO Projects is to assist first-generation and/or low-income students OR students with disabilities in achieving their post-secondary academic ambitions. Students are encouraged to complete their associates degrees or certificate programs and, when feasible, transfer to a four-year institution. TRiO Projects are committed to making college a rewarding and successful experience for each participant.

TRiO staff is pleased to welcome all Student Support Services (SSS) participants and Support Services for Students with Disabilities (SSSD) participants to LWTech. Since September 2005, TRiO has been providing quality academic and program services to participants. We serve over 300 students every quarter.

Students in the TRiO Student Support Services programs are more than twice as likely to remain in college as those students from similar backgrounds who do not participate in the program.
