The General Service Technician Certificate prepares students for an entry-level career in the high-demand field of automotive technology. According to many automotive industry estimates, there is a shortage of technicians with training in automobile systems. General Service Technician students gain the necessary knowledge and skills to get work as automotive technicians. Students learn the basics of automotive repair: electrical systems, mechanical principles, automatic transmissions, brake systems, air conditioning service, and engine performance. In addition, General Service Technician instructors teach basic computer skills, common automotive business practices, and introductory welding and machining. General Service Technician Certificate graduates can continue studying at LWTech to complete additional certificates or a General Service Technician Associate’s (AAS) degree.
