Lake Washington Institute of Technology's Diesel Program Receives Career Launch Endorsement

Kirkland, WA. -Lake Washington Institute of Technology's (LWTech) associate of applied science degree in Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technician (DHET) has been approved as an endorsed Career Launch Program by Career Connect Washington. "This is a great endorsement as it recognizes that LWTech's DHET program is 'designed to position young adults to enter promising careers.' Even in uncertain economic times, there will always be a demand for highly skilled heavy duty equipment and diesel technicians," said Dr. Amy Morrison, president of LWTech. "We believe creating direct pathways from college directly into the workplace will create a stronger economy."

Lake Washington Institute of Technology's TRIO Program Awarded U.S. Department of Education Grant for the 4th Time

Kirkland, WA. - For the fourth time, Lake Washington Institute of Technology's (LWTech) TRIO program has received a renewed Student Support Services grant from the U.S. Department of Education for $536,733 for an additional five years. LWTech's TRIO program provides tutoring, financial literacy and academic advising to more than 300 students who are low-income, first-generation (neither parent nor guardian has a bachelor's degree and neither does the student), or are students with disabilities.

Lake Washington Institute of Technology's Accreditation Reaffirmed by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities

Kirkland, Wash. - The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), the regional accreditation body for the Northwest, has reaffirmed Lake Washington Institute of Technology's (LWTech) accreditation for another seven years. Accreditation by the NWCCU Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality evaluated through a peer review process. LWTech's accreditation was reaffirmed in January 2020.

Lake Washington Institute of Technology Board of Trustees Grant Tenure to Four Faculty Members

Kirkland, Wash. - Yesterday the Board of Trustees of Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech), the only public institute of technology in Washington state, granted tenure to three faculty members: Thomas Abbott, Elisa Parrett and Benjamin A. Meyer. The Trustees held a special meeting in March to award tenure to Catherine England. Abbott teaches Computing and Software Development and holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Washington. Parrett teaches English and holds a Master of Arts in English from California State University Sacramento, Meyer teaches Design and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Iowa State University, and England taught Basic Education for Adults and held a Master of Education in Adult Education and Training from Seattle University.
