LWTech President, Dr. Amy Morrison Goings

Welcome to Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech). Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in the state of Washington. LWTech offers 10 applied bachelor's degrees, 35 associate degrees, and 86 professional certificates in 42 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

All of us at LWTech welcome and affirm the values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), and are committed to intentionally creating a community of belonging where all are welcome.

In 2015, the college community, with the support of the Board of Trustees, adopted its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Plan, which was the culmination of three years of work that took place across the campus. As part of that work, the college community has adopted many initiatives that support our EDI work, including but not limited to:

  • Integrating an EDI focus into every facet of the college, including the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan.
  • Creating the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Council.
  • Expanding our Veterans Services by opening the Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success.
  • Opening the RISE Center (Resources for Inclusion, Support and Empowerment).
  • Introducing Open Educational Resources (OER) which are teaching, learning, and research resources that have been openly licensed to share intellectual content or reside in the public domain. Reducing costs and removing barriers to education by creating more access for students.
  • Creating campus-wide Core Values development exercises, which culminated in the development of the following Core Values:
    • Inclusive: We intentionally create a welcoming environment where all feel a sense of belonging.
    • Innovative: We are leaders in maximizing opportunities to create a thriving college community.
    • Collaborative: We are open to change and work together to achieve success for all.
    • Respectful: We engage others with acceptance, open-mindedness, courtesy, and care.

These are just a few examples of how all of us at LWTech are invested in the success of our students, faculty and staff by creating a welcoming and supportive community of belonging. I invite you to explore our website and visit our campus.

I look forward to seeing you on campus,

LWTech President Amy Morrison Goings Signature
