    Rex Jacobsen

    Rex Jacobsen received his bachelor's degree from Western Washington University with concentrations in finance, business administration and Information Technology. Rex's private accounting work experience includes the payroll and human resources departments of Vivendi Universal, SeaMED Corporation and Sierra On-Line. At Sierra On-Line, Rex designed and implemented an information system that merged confidential payroll information with human resource data, which created accounting completion reports for the Internal Revenue Service. At Vivendi Universal, Rex helped merge the company's accounting and human resources information systems into a multimillion-dollar PeopleSoft platform. Rex also has set up computerized systems for small businesses using QuickBooks.

    Carol Rypkema

    As a Pacific Northwest native, Carol grew up in Bellevue and moved on to the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma for her undergraduate degree in Business Administration, with an Accounting concentration.

    After passing the CPA exam, she worked for the Federal government in various auditing positions before making the transition to a private accounting practice. During this time, she also received a Master’s degree in Management from Troy State University.

    Carol specializes in working with small businesses and in setting up accounting systems and software.

    When not busy at Lake Washington Tech, she also teaches knitting and loves to cook.

    Lu Lockwood

    As Chief Operating Officer for Avier, Lu oversees all aspects of operations and accounting/finance, as well as ensuring the firm’s compliance with governmental and SEC regulations. Lu welcomes any question or research need, including working with clients on tax projections.

    Lu has carried her accounting and teaching passions into her personal life by teaching Managerial Accounting at Lake Washington Institute of Technology, receiving the Instructional Excellence Award for 2016-2017 from the college. She also teaches financial literacy classes for Hopelink.

    She is actively involved in her church: singing in the choir and working in various mission/outreach programs, and has just completed 20 years of service on the Finance Committee. Life for Lu outside of the office also includes a commitment to fitness, as well as travel adventures and photography.
