Rex joined the faculty at LWTech in 2015. As a licensed social worker, Rex has worked in mental health care, crisis work, clinical supervision and gerontological social work (working with seniors). He has been program manager for the county’s Crisis Diversion Facility, supervised case managers working with adults with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues, and provided direct service in our area since 1993. While working for DESC, Gentiva Home Health, ElderHealth Northwest, Spokane Mental Health and serving as a consultant and board member for several non-profit social service agencies he's had the opportunity to partner with many local social and human service organizations.
Rex has a Doctorate in Social Work from St. Thomas University and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Washington. As an undergraduate, he studied Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame. He has long enjoyed questions about the meaning of being human, of what is ultimately important, what all people deserve and how to build justice.
Rex grew up in the Midwest but fell in love with the Northwest. He lives in Kirkland, Washington, with his wife, who is an English professor.
Rex is excited about the opportunity to help prepare the next generation of great behavioral health professionals and social service providers.
