Course Information and Schedule
- Courses Offered: CHEM&121, BIOL&160, and BIOL&175
I-BEST offers academic support in three LWTech science courses: CHEM&121 Introduction to Chemistry, BIOL&160 General Biology with Lab, and BIOL&175 Human Biology with Lab. These courses support college pathways in many School of Health Sciences programs such as Dental Hygiene and Nursing. CHEM and BIOL courses are also required for many Direct Transfer Agreements/Major Related Programs such as the Associate in Business DTA/MRP or Associate in Computer Science DTA/MRP.
CHEM&121 and BIOL&160 are team-taught in a Learning Community which is two classes working together as one. Two instructors plan together to contextualize content and share assignments, so student workload is reduced in completing general education requirements. An I-BEST teacher offers academic support for students. Unlike the ENGL Learning Community, there is no support class.
BIOL&175 is taught with team teaching and offers a support class for students. The support class is a dedicated small-group class to review content and assignments and learn new study methods and tips. Currently, BIOL&175 is offered during winter quarter with I-BEST support.

How Will These Courses Be Taught?
- Face-to-face: This course is a traditional classroom with an instructor and students in a college classroom at the same time. Face-to-face classes are located on the LWTech campus at 11605 132nd Avenue NE in Kirkland, WA. Students are required to be on-campus at the scheduled time for all scheduled class times.
