Mechanical Engineering Technology

Your Mechanical Engineering Technology Pathway

Note: This program was formerly known as the Mechanical Design Technology program.

Enroll now in the Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) - Associate in Applied Science degree. Graduates of this two year program excel as Assistant Engineers, Technicians, Drafters, and Designers with mechanical engineering firms (e.g.: aeronautics, aerospace, medical, space, industrial manufacturing, consumer products, transportation, etc.).

Engineering is about solving problems. MET students will gain a strong foundation in designing for manufacturability, quality, and function. Immerse yourself in creating complex, accurate, and complete fabrication drawings and digital models adhering to current industry standards, including ASME Y14.5-2018 (GD&T). Utilize cutting-edge Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other leading design tools. Included in the degree, students will earn industry certifications in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. There is also a low math and science requirement. This program will equip you for success.

Create innovative designs in our Maker Space (Innovation Lab) using rapid prototyping tools and digital fabrication software, including the latest in 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, and more. You will benefit from small class settings, ensuring personalized attention and hands-on training for an enriched learning experience.

AN LWTech student uses 3d modeling software.

Because of our strong support from our industry partners, students will also learn from industry experts through guest speakers and company tours. This includes presentations from graduates who are working in the industry. These connections not only ensure that content is current and relevant, but they also help with employment.

Your degree isn't just a milestone; it's a seamless gateway to a rewarding career in Engineering and Manufacturing.

Additional Program Information

Entry into the Mechanical Engineering Technology program requires completion of LWTech's general online application.

The Mechanical Engineering Technology program does not turn during summer quarter.

LWTech does not offer every course each quarter. It is the student's responsibility to consult the Class Schedule and work out an individual schedule with an advisor. Any developmental coursework you might be required to complete may increase the program length.

At LWTech, we welcome all students as an open enrollment college and we are committed to your inclusion at the college. This program of study leads to an industry or specific employers that may require a full or partial background check as well as a drug test before you start the job. Please know LWTech is committed to your inclusion at the college and you can talk with an advisor about alternative options that may be similar to this program.
