Overview

The Opportunity Grant Scholarship supports educational training for low-income students pursuing careers in high-wage, high-demand occupations.

Students in the Opportunity Grant Scholarship program may receive:

  • Tuition and fees for up to 45 credits 
  • Up to $1,000 per academic year for books and supplies
  • Career and educational advising and planning
  • Personal support, goal setting, and problem-solving

Eligibility

You could be able to participate in the Opportunity Grant program at LWTech if: 

  • You are a Washington state resident (living in Washington state at least one year)
  • You DO NOT have a prior degree (Associate, Bachelor, or higher)
  • You have a cumulative and quarterly GPA of 2.0 or higher
    • Students studying Health Sciences with the intent to pursue either an Occupational Therapy Assistant AAS-T, Nursing AAS-T, or Physical Therapy Assistant AAS degree are highly encouraged to earn a grade of 3.0 or higher in each of the prerequisite quarters
  • Your total family income as reported on the 2020-2021 FAFSA/WASFA does not exceed the following income guidelines:
    • 1 person family$2,023/month ($24,280/year)
    • 2 person family$2,743/month ($32,920/year)
    • 3 person family$3,463/month ($41,560/year)
    • 4 person family$4,183/month ($50,200/year)
    • 5 person family$4,903/month ($58,840/year)
    • 6 person family$5,623/month ($67,480/year) 

Waitlist

Depending on available funding, you may be placed on a waitlist for the Opportunity Grant Scholarship. Please note that being added to the waitlist does not guarantee award of the Opportunity Grant Scholarship.
