Holiday Helpers

Assistance for Students

Financial assistance during the winter holidays is sometimes a need for students. If you are a student needing financial assistance during the holidays the annual Holiday Helper program is available for that support. This annual giving program helps enrolled students during the winter break holidays provide a little bit more for themselves or their families. You can complete the online Holiday Helpers Application form to apply for assistance. Although we do all we can to provide financial assistance at this time, funding is not guaranteed.

More information about eligibility is below.

What is the Holiday Helper Program?

Student Programs has been leading this effort, with the combined support by the LWTech Foundation, to fundraise dollars to support student ask. Past campaigns have raised hundreds of dollars so students could:

  • purchase holiday presents for their children
  • purchase food for special holiday meals
  • purchase presents for cherished family pets
  • purchase gas to get to and from school
  • purchase school supplies for winter quarter

This program, developed in the early 2000's, has helped hundreds of students when they thought no holiday help was available. This equitable program supports an individual student's agency by allowing them to use their own purchasing power to provide for themselves or their family as they determine.

How the LWTech Campus Community Helps

Program Timeline

Beginning mid-fall quarter, Student Programs will send out a campus notification outlining the details of the Holiday Helper program. For example:

  • To all enrolled students: information on the online application for requesting Holiday Helper assistance.
  • To all campus (employees): information on how to donate in support of the Holiday Helper program.
  • Student requests are being processed by Student Programs staff.
  • Gift card donations are being cataloged and assigned to student requests.
  • Monetary donations are being used to purchase gift cards to fulfill student requests.
  • Students are notified they may pick up their gift card. For any gift cards not picked up, they will be mailed to the home address, after the student is contacted via email or phone. If the requestor does not confirm acceptance of the gift via mail, the card will be kept for the next Holiday Helper program.
