Student Insurance Options

Students have various options for health or other insurance. Information included here is for convenience and is not a substitute for expert knowledge found in health insurance plans. LWTech encourages all students without insurance to review the options below and reach out to those resources.

Depending on your eligibility, Apple Health (Medicaid) is available for Washington residents. The Washington State Healthcare Authority Apple Health Medicaid coverage webpage has information, including the ability to determine eligibility, understand coverage, and update your forms and information if you are enrolled. If you enroll in Apple Health, you do not need to enroll in a separate dental plan. On this webpage, you can learn more about dental coverage available through Apple Health.

To learn more about enrolling in Apple Health the Washington Health Care Apple Health agency has outlined specific information for individuals that identify as American Indian or Alaska Native. Under these plans, American Indians or Alaska Native can go to tribal and urban Indian clinics, whether having Apple Health or not.

If you have served in the military or are a family member, or dependent of a service member, Apple Health describes how you can apply. The webpage has information about eligibility to assist Washington veterans, their family members and survivors in connecting to the benefits they earned through their military service. These benefits and services may be available to you if you meet VA eligibility criteria. Some benefits may also be used by active service members, reservists, and National Guard members as well as eligible spouses, children, and survivors of veterans and service members.

LWTech, through a state wide partnership, connects with Relation to offer all students various insurance options, including health insurance. The insurance option includes accident coverage for students, and does not include dependents. Relation also offers health insurance as a voluntary program, for purchase.

LWTech has information for international students. Information about requirements for maintaining health insurance coverage includes which service LWTech partners with, coverage options, and services offered when under that health care plan.

Washington Health Plan Finder is a website that helps you determine your eligibility for a variety of health plans. It is a health benefit exchange that creates a new marketplace for each state to offer health and dental insurance coverage to individuals and families. Having individual insurance is a key provision of the Affordable Care Act. On this page, you can:

  • Make side-by-side comparisons of Qualified Health Plans and Qualified Dental Plans
  • Learn about tax credits or financial help to pay for co-pays and premiums
  • Receive expert customer support online, by phone or in-person through local organizations or insurance broker.

This webpage includes information to learn more and determine your eligibility as a new health plan customer.

The National Student Services Inc. works with LWTech to provide current information about student property insurance. National Student Services Inc. is a company that offers students inexpensive property insurance for belongings students bring to campus. For you, that might mean tools, books, and electronics.
