Kirkland, Wash. - The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), the regional accreditation body for the Northwest, has reaffirmed Lake Washington Institute of Technology's (LWTech) accreditation for another seven years. Accreditation by the NWCCU Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality evaluated through a peer review process. LWTech's accreditation was reaffirmed in January 2020.
Read MoreKirkland, Wash. - Yesterday the Board of Trustees of Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech), the only public institute of technology in Washington state, granted tenure to three faculty members: Thomas Abbott, Elisa Parrett and Benjamin A. Meyer. The Trustees held a special meeting in March to award tenure to Catherine England. Abbott teaches Computing and Software Development and holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Washington. Parrett teaches English and holds a Master of Arts in English from California State University Sacramento, Meyer teaches Design and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Iowa State University, and England taught Basic Education for Adults and held a Master of Education in Adult Education and Training from Seattle University.

Rundle is a 3.95 GPA Nursing student who found her passion for nursing while working as a licensed medical technician in Haiti. Through hard work and determination, Rundle worked her way up from being a volunteer to an emergency department technician. After college, Rundle plans to work in a nursing leadership position in a hospital environment.

The survey was emailed to approximately 3,500 LWTech students. Of those who responded, 41 percent experienced food insecurities, which the National #RealCollege Survey, 2019 defined as, "Limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe food, or the ability to acquire such food in a socially acceptable manner."

The competition was comprised of various tasks for students to achieve increasingly difficult and complex intelligence capabilities. The NSA describes it as, "A hands-on opportunity to develop their reverse-engineering / low-level code analysis skills while working on a realistic problem set centered around the NSA's mission."

LWTech is one of two colleges in the country that provides this program, with the other college being in Florida. Developed, with direct input from companies like Stryker, LWTech's Biomedical Device Assembler Certificate program was designed with the most relevant and direct-needed skills that will make students successful in a variety of applications, including: assembling biomedical equipment products; proper installation of electronic, optical, and mechanical components; quality inspection and auditing; product finishing; reading blueprints and engineering drawing schematics; and learning lean manufacturing processes.
