Campus Public Safety 

Your safety and security are taken seriously at LWTech. All incidents of confirmed or suspected crimes are reported. If you require assistance or would like to report an incident, please dial (425) 739-8224 to reach Campus Public Safety. In an emergency, call 911 and then Campus Public Safety.  

  • Evacuation procedures—posted in each classroom 
  • School closures/Inclement Weather – Sign up for and check Emergency Communications  
  • Campus Security Location: Room E145 
  • If You See Something, Say Something: In support of the college safety plan, the Campus Assessment, Response, and Evaluation (CARE) team uses collaboration, information collection, risk assessment, and intervention to create a safe campus community. Based upon reports of student behavior, the CARE team plans preventive strategies and interventions to assist students, faculty, and staff in supporting students who may be at risk. Please use our online reporting form to contact us. 

Canvas Support (eLearning) 

The Office of eLearning is here to help with Canvas-related questions and issues.  

  • The best way to get help with Canvas is to use the Canvas Help link in the left-hand, blue menu any time you are logged into Canvas. Click on the “Get help with Canvas” option when you are on the page where you are having trouble.  
  • You can also email eLearning (eLearning@LWTech.edu) for support. 

Career Services

Our Career Services provides career planning and job search assistance to LWTech students and alumni.

Community Resources

LWTech is committed to helping all students be successful. Check out this list of community resources at both LWTech and local community based and government organizations available for students to reach out to for support and funding.

Counseling Services 

LWTech offers free short term counseling services (3-5 sessions) to all students as well as mental health resources on the Counseling Services website (LWTech.edu/Counseling). Counseling is offered via phone and Zoom.  

  • To schedule a counseling appointment, please email Counseling@lwtech.edu from your student email address and include your availability, phone number, and preference for a zoom or phone appointment.  
  • If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call the 24-Hour Crisis Clinic hotline at (866) 427-4747, TTY: (206) 461-3610. 

DEN Food Pantry

If you are struggling with food insecurity, there is a Daily Eating Necessities (DEN) Food Pantry located in the East Building, E128. Visit the Daily Eating Necessities (DEN) Food Pantry page for information on how to access the DEN for grab and go food for while on campus or at home.

Disability Support Services 

If you have a physical, psychological, medical, or learning disability that may impact your course work, you may request accommodations and apply for services through DSS Online.

After you provide documentation of a disability, the office will coordinate directly with your faculty to ensure you are given reasonable accommodations to support your success. All information and documentation is confidential. You can reach DSS by phone at (425) 739-8300 or by email dssInfo@LWTech.edu. For additional information please refer to the DSS page

Financial Assistance: Financial Aid and Workforce Development 

Financial assistance is available for students' educational expenses and emergency needs through the Financial Aid Office (LWTech.edu/Financial-Aid). Visit their webpage for customer service hours and types of meeting availabilities.

Scholarships are also available twice yearly through the LWTech Foundation. Information about scholarships can be found on the LWTech Foundation webpage (LWTech.edu/About/Foundation/Scholarships).  

Additional funding for tuition, books and supplies, testing fees, and childcare may be available to eligible students from Workforce Development (WFD). To see if you qualify for WFD funding and to sign up for an orientation, take the survey, or contact us via email (wfd@LWTech.edu) or phone at (425) 739-8339.

Information Technology Services (ITS)

Self-Help and How-to Guides

Information Technology Services (ITS) has easy-to-follow directions students can access for Account Setup and commonly used IT applications.

  • Access our comprehensive collection of step-by-step guides to enhance your experience at LWTech by going to ITS Self-Help and How-to Guides.
  • If you require additional support, we encourage you to submit a Help Desk Ticket for prompt assistance. Please note, ITS cannot provide password assistance via email or Help Desk ticket due to security reasons. Students must call the Help Desk (425) 739-8100 x8603 OR (425) 576-5865; or visit in person at the Technology Building Room, T318, to receive this support.

LionsLink powered by ctcLink is a self-service cloud-based software that provides a set of common, mobile-friendly tools for students to manage college business online, such as enrolling for classes, viewing financial aid, and other college business.

  • You can find how-to guides on LionsLink account activation, log in, and a variety of other activities by visiting the LionsLink Student Page (LWTech.edu/LionsLinkStudents).

Justice Involved Students: Re-Entry Support

At LWTech we are here to make sure your experience at the college is positive. We understand the transition from being justice involved to higher education can be difficult or intimidating and we are here to make it as simple as possible. The college maintains information online to support justice involved students with relevant support services on and off campus

Library

LWTech Library

Librarians are available to help individual students with any part of research, including determining a topic and information need, finding and accessing sources, evaluating information, and citation. Please email Library@LWTech.edu with your requests. If you know which librarian your class is working with, you can contact them directly. 

Meditation Room

If you need a quiet room on campus to engage in meditation, prayer, or silent reflection the LWTech Meditation Room is a dedicated space for that. It is intended to be a safe and inclusive environment. It is located in the Technology Center, T118.

Paying for College 

There are many options that exist when it comes to paying for college. Scholarships, grants, financial aid are just some of the options.  You can find links and resources available to current and prospective students for paying for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and more on the Pay for College page.

RISE Center

The RISE Center, located in E128, is a support service for students from traditionally underrepresented and underserved backgrounds, such as students from minoritized ethnic/racial groups, students with disabilities, first-generation college students (those who are the first in their family to attend/graduate from college), undocumented students, and members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) community. Visit the RISE Center for related services, support, and activities.

Student Handbook

The Student Handbook is a guide to the Lake Washington Institute of Technology academic policies, procedures and services. It is provided as a resource to answer questions that relate to the many regulations that govern the academic life of students.

Student Representation and Advocacy

The Associated Student Government (ASG) Executive Board officers at LWTech creates opportunities for student involvement, represents student issues to the administration, works to create a positive and inclusive student environment, and manages the services and activities budget that support many events and services for students.

TRIO

TRIO at LWTech provides academic and support services to students who are low-income, first generation,* or students with disabilities. TRIO provides support services such as:

  • One-on-one Tutoring
  • Academic advising and planning
  • Student Success appointments
  • Financial aid and Financial literacy education
  • Staff mentoring
  • Transfer and Career planning

*Neither parent nor guardian has a bachelor’s degree and neither does the student.

Tutoring 

Drop-in Tutoring

Free in person tutoring for all LWTech students. No appointment needed. The Learning Lab offers help with general education and select program classes. Contact The Learning Lab, (425) 739-8361 for information. 

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides students with additional learning opportunities related to course content. Study sessions are hosted online. If you would like to be added to the Canvas site for one of the following subjects, contact Jeff Troy via email (jeff.troy@lwtech.edu). Updated schedules and links for SI study sessions can be found on the Supplemental Instruction page.

Tutoring Resources

Student Veteran Services

The Veteran Services team connects student veterans to their education benefits and maintains a dedication to the educational, health and wellness, and transitional needs of today's veterans. LWTech views those who have served or are serving in the United States military and their families as a distinct diverse population with their own experiences, culture, and viewpoints. 

The Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success offers several services to engage student veterans in activities, programs, and services focused on academic and personal success. One-on-one academic advising, financial aid referral, and transitional development for active military, military connected students, and student veterans are some examples of the services you'll receive.
