Student Organizations
Welcome to Student Organizations
Student organizations are an important component of a college experience, and Office of Student Life (OSL) is excited to help you expand your student life experience by engaging with you and supporting your learning journey.
LWTech sponsors a variety of student organizations focused on identity, hobbies, and academic interests. All students are welcome and entitled to either join or start a new group.
The Associated Student Government (ASG) both approves new student organizations and renews currently chartered student organizations. Chartering allows student leaders to recieve funding for activities or community building experiences, use the college's name and branding to support advertising activities, and engage in leadership building. Student organizations are funded from the Services and Activities Fee, that is collected in tuition.
All chartered student organizations are open for all students to join.
Join a Student Organization
It is easy to join one of our organizations. The list of organizations changes throughout the quarter and OSL does its best to update its active organization list. Any student may join any organization by completing this join an organization form. After OSL receives your request form, you will be connected to the student leader managing that group. If no leader is currently assigned to that group, you will be offered the opportunity to accept a leadership position within that group.
Organizations are more active in fall, winter, and spring quarters. Summer quarter many groups are not functioning due to summer break.
Start A New Student Organization
The New Student Organization Charter Recognition Form asks new student organization leaders to outline the purpose of the group, its anticipated activities, and listing at least 3 student members.
Things to keep in mind about a new club:
- Your group's purpose should bring enrolled students together to examine a hobby, identity, or academic interest
- All students are eligible to join your group
- Officers should have roles that outline management of the group and at least one officer will work with OSL as a main communicator
- Club officers are responsible for holding 3 meetings throughout the quarter, and possibly an event.
All new officers, club members, or chosen members will attend leadership seminars that teach officers how to manage the group, sponsor events, or purchase supplies. Trainings will be scheduled each quarter on a regular basis.
