Meet Our Organizations

LWTech has a great history of recognizing student organizations that engage students in socialization, community building, exploration, hobbies, identities, and academic interests. This information lists some of our great, and long standing groups. You can join any organization, or start your own

Historically Active Student Organizations

SHRM was chartered in 2009 and has done amazing work every year. SHRM Student Chapter is a sub-chapter of the human resource organization. Their focus is on human resources management. The group brings human resource management students together to strengthen their understanding of the human resource industry. Some of their accomplishment include:

  • SHRM Superior Merit Award, each year from 2009 to 2024
  • SHRM Outstanding Chapter Award 2016/17, 2018/2019
  • 1st Place NHRMA Case Winners and paid trip for 5 to SHRM Annual Conference in NV 2015
  • Robert W. Denomy Award Leadership Award, NHRMA 2016, 2019, and 2021

This group of students from the architectural design program focus on networking with the regional Construction Specifications Institute organization and sponsor a field trip to Washington State University to learn about transferring to WSU's architectural program. This group is focused on expanding knowledge of both the academic program and the larger network.

Dental Hygiene has two student organizations. The incoming class and the senior class manage two separate groups. The "juniors", or incoming class, focus on building community and support each other through classes and exams. The "senior" class focuses on strengthening the understanding how to study for certification exam.

Beta Iota Tau chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society focuses on engagement of student leaders committed to academic rigor and success. Our chapter supports academically focused students in applying for scholarships and promoting leadership in action by doing service learning projects. The chapter has completed service learning projects that have positively impacted the campus community, regularly received 3, 4, and 5 level star acknowledgement, and had nationally recognized scholars receive significantly funded scholarships.

The Design Club engages our Design students studying Game Design, Illustration, or Universal Design in meeting industry professionals, presenting design materials at exhibitions or conferences. The group is regularly involved in showing at PAX, the annual Penny Arcade Expo.
