Accreditation

Lake Washington Institute of Technology is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities at the associate degree level and at the baccalaureate level.

Application Deadlines

  • Quarter Start: Fall 2025
  • Priority Deadline: May 19, 2025
  • Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until August 25th.

The Application

Beginning May 20, 2025, students must apply using the Rolling Admission Application.

Due to the shift in format this year, applicants will only receive communication via email and will not be able to check their application status.

Illustration BAS Application

 

Application Requirements

  • Applicants must have earned an Applied Associate Degree, or equivalent, in an appropriate concentration from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA cumulative across all college coursework.
  • An illustration portfolio that includes 5 portfolio artworks. Image list with title, media, size, and date created for all 5 artworks.

Required Courses for Application

Completion of all College-level General Education prerequisite courses listed below with a minimum 2.0 GPA in each course:

  • English Composition: 5 credits (ENGL&101 or equivalent)
  • Social Sciences: 5 credits Quantitative Reasoning: 5 credits (College-level math course with Intermediate Algebra as its prerequisite, or higher)
  • Humanities: 5 credits
  • Lab Science: 5 credits
  • ART 121 Introduction to Drawing (or equivalent): 5 credits

Students who have classes in-progress at the time of application are eligible for Conditional Admission on a space-available basis provided that they complete required courses before the first quarter of the program. ART 121 may be completed in the first quarter of the program. In the event that the number of applications exceeds space available in the program, priority will be given to students who have completed all required classes.

 

Illustration Portfolio Requirements

An Illustration portfolio with 5 examples of your best Illustration work completed either as a student or professional is required. Emphasis will be placed on quality, not quantity. Applicants have to submit:

  • An illustration portfolio that includes 5 portfolio artworks.
  • Image list with title, media, size, and date created for all 5 artworks.

 

Transferring Credits To LWTech

Selective Admission Programs require Official Transcripts from every college where you took any required classes. If you have an International Transcript, we are happy to accept the Course-by-Course Evaluation from an evaluation agency.  You can find additional information on our Transferring to LWTech page.

Note: You do not need to request Official Transcripts if you took all your classes at LWTech.

Applied Art – Illustration Information and Advising Planning Session 

All are invited to come learn about LWTech’s Illustration program. College faculty and staff will share information about the degrees and attendees will have a chance to ask questions.
