Returning & Special Programs Students
Congratulations! We're so happy you're here.
We can't wait to see you in class, around campus, and online! Before you can register for classes, there are a few things all students need to complete. This page is designed specifically for the following students:
- Returning Students: You are a returning student if you last attended LWTech more than one year ago.
- Special Programs Students: This includes students in Parent Education, Sewing, or those not pursuing a degree ('non-degree seeking').
There are three parts to this process:
- Activate your LWTech IT Accounts
- Assess your Placement Options
- Register and Pay for Classes
All Other Students: If you are not in one of the groups above, you will need to complete New Student Orientation before registering for classes. A registration hold will remain on your account until orientation is complete.
Let's get started.
1. Activate your LWTech Accounts
At LWTech, you'll use several different accounts and technologies designed to help you succeed. If you are a returning student, you can skip this step if you've already set up your accounts.
LionsLink powered by ctcLink is the online system used to sign up for classes, update contact information, pay tuition, and more.
Activate Your LionsLink Account
You will need your LionsLink ID (also known as a ctcLink ID) to activate your account. This unique number can be found on your LWTech Welcome Letter.
Your LWTech/Okta password is different than the password you previously set up for LionsLink. Your LWTech password lets you access tools like the Okta Dashboard, Canvas, your LWTech student email, and more.
Set Your LWTech PasswordAfter you set your LWTech password, you can access your Okta Dashboard.
Activate Your Okta Dashboard
There may be a short delay between the time you set your LWTech password and when you can activate your Okta Dashboard. If you receive an error message, please try again in a few minutes.

2. Assess your Placement Options
The placement process helps your academic advisor identify appropriate starting English and Math levels for you. At LWTech, all first-quarter courses require prerequisites in Math and English.
Placement can be determined in one of two ways. You can either provide previous academic records or take a math and English placement offered by LWTech. To determine the best placement option for you, self-enroll in our free Math and English Placement Canvas Course, where you can take a placement survey designed to help you determine which type of placement is right for you.

Optional: New Student Orientation
Students directed to this page are not required to complete the New Student Orientation before registering for classes. However, we strongly encourage you to participate, as it provides helpful information to support your success at LWTech.
In the orientation, you'll learn about campus resources, including how to pay for college, and find guidance on how to register for classes. The course is self-paced and can be completed on your own schedule.
