  • Completion of ENGL&102: 5 Points Awarded
  • Enrollment in ENGL&102: 3 Points Awarded

Current RN Licensure:

All successful RN to BSN applicants must have current unrestricted licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Washington or an active Multistate licensure as a registered nurse within the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC). Applicants will be required to upload a copy of their license from NURSYS, including license number, into the application.

The Nursing Admission team will use this licensure to award 30 credits of Test Credits for passing the NCLEX. These credits will be applied to your RN-BSN graduation requirements.

Current RN Licensure:

All successful RN to BSN applicants must have at least 1 year of clinical experience within 2 years of the application deadline.

If you are applying directly from a Nursing Associate Degree program and graduated within 2 years of the application deadline, your program clinical experience can be used for this purpose.

If you graduated from your Nursing Associate Degree program more than 2 years before the application deadline, you will be required to provide a letter from your employer's human resource department on organization letterhead detailing employment dates and your position title. This is not a letter of recommendation; the Nursing Admissions department will only use this letter to verify at least 1 year of clinical experience.

Additional Documentation:

Upon admission to the RN-BSN program, all students are required to submit a Clinical Passport. Background check, Immunizations, and AHA BLS Provider CPR card. These are due by the Clinical Compliance Deadline posted above.

National Criminal Background check

Each successful Nursing applicant is required to complete a background check. Fees for this online service vary depending on the number of places in which the student has resided within the past seven years. If a criminal background check for a particular student shows a less than satisfactory” rating, clinical facilities may deny access to that student. While entrance to the Nursing Program may not be denied because of such a rating, without access to the clinical facilities such a student will not be able to satisfactorily complete the Nursing program and will be so advised. Throughout the program, nursing students may be asked to complete and sign a form which asks for confirmation of the student’s present and past criminal history. In addition, licensure as a Nurse in the State of Washington requires a background check. The Washington State Department of Health has the ability to deny Nursing licensure based upon criminal history.

CPR: American Heart Association BLS

Admitted students are required to upload CPR/Basic Life Support certification by the clinical compliance deadline. This information will be covered in the Mandatory Orientation. Please bring all questions and concerns to the faculty at that time.

Required Immunizations:

Upon admission to the RN-BSN program, all students are required to submit a Clinical Passport. Background check, Immunizations, and AHA BLS Provider CPR card. All immunizations are required.

  • Required immunizations for clinical eligibility/clearance may include:
    • COVID-19 vaccination (initial series or current year vaccine)
    • Hepatitis B vaccine Series and a positive Hep B titer
    • Seasonal influenza vaccine
    • TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) vaccine
    • TB Test (Tuberculosis): 2 step PPD Skin Test or QuantiFERON IGRA Gold blood test. If history of a +TB, need documentation of +TB test and chest xray report.
    • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine X2 or titer showing immunity
    • Varicella (Chickenpox) vaccine X 2 or titer showing immunity

Immunizations are required to ensure patient safety. If you are unable to receive immunizations, you will be required to provide medical exemptions from a provider. Clinical agencies may deny placement if you are unable to meet the immunization standards. Students who are unable to meet the clinical requirements for the program may be prevented from continuing or completing the program.

Immunizations and blood work for titers take time and may be expensive. We highly recommend obtaining immunizations and CPR now and do not delay. More information will be provided at the Mandatory Orientation.

  • Lake Washington Institute of Technology is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) at the associate degree level and at the baccalaureate level.
  • Washington State Board of Nursing (WABON) approved.
  • LWTech is in the process of obtaining RN-BSN Nursing program accreditation with ACEN and aims to enter candidacy status prior to the first graduating cohort. Once initial approval is granted, the accreditation status is retroactive to the candidacy status date, and all graduates completing the LWTech RN-BSN program will have completed an ACEN-accredited program. The LWTech RN-BSN website will be updated as accreditation updates become available.
    • ACEN Address: 3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30326

LWTech Policies

Listed below are important LWTech policies. Please review them before applying to the RN-BSN program.

In signing and submitting the application, you will be certifying that to the best of your knowledge the statements made are complete and true. This means that failure to disclose and submit official transcripts from all schools, colleges, or universities attended and failure to disclose and submit complete and accurate information may result in the denial of admission or subsequent dismissal from Lake Washington Institute of Technology. Your application will be considered incomplete without the required signatures.

Once your online application is completed, make sure to click the "Review Application" button. Make sure everything looks correct, then click "Verify and Submit," enter your name as your signature, and click "Submit". In the application portal, your application must show 100% complete. If it does not say 100% complete, it will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.

Students are allowed to participate only in clinical affiliations with which Lake Washington Institute of Technology has a signed agreement. Clinical affiliation experiences for the LWTech Nursing Program are generally located in clinics and facilities throughout the Puget Sound region in King and Snohomish County. Some experiences beyond this region may be required. Students are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from all clinical affiliations. When affiliations occur in the program, they may be full-time (30hrs/week) with the schedule set by the clinical facilities and Nursing program.

Lake Washington Institute of Technology reaffirms its policy of equal opportunity in education regardless of race or ethnicity, creed, color, national origin, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, genetic information, or veteran status in accordance with college policy and applicable federal and state statutes and regulations.

To comply with federal laws, LWTech is required to ask for your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). We will use your SSN/ITIN to report Hope Scholarship/Lifetime tax credit, to administer state/federal financial aid, to verify enrollment, degree and academic transcript records, and to conduct institutional research. If you do not submit your SSN/ITIN, you will not be denied access to the college; however, you may be subject to civil penalties (refer to Internal Revenue Service Treasury Regulation 1.6050S-1(e) (4) for more information). Pursuant to state law (RCW 28B.10.042) and federal law (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), the college will protect your SSN from unauthorized use and/or disclosure.

LWTech reserves the right to rescind a student's offer of admission wherever:

  1. the student's final academic record has lowered significantly,
  2. the student's application materials are found to contain misrepresentations,
  3. misconduct occurs or is brought to the attention of LWTech after an offer of admission is made, or
  4. an error led to the offer of admission.

The determination to revisit an application and rescind an offer of admission based upon the above factors rests solely with the Enrollment Services Office. Appeals are heard by the Vice President of Student Services.

Students who disagree with selective admission decisions should follow the grievances and appeals procedures as published online.
